Has anyone ever used the Mr. Beer home brewing kit?

cryfreedmb asked:

I’m in the process of brewing up the Pale Ale right now. It should be done in about 2 weeks. It’s been a fairly long process and I’m looking forward to tasteing my homemade beverage for the first time. Let me know how your results were.

i laugh when i see that in Bed Bath and Beyond….I’d never try it, but if it works for you…it seems as though it would take too long when you can just go and buy some….good luck.

Whoa buddy!! Man, I ruined 3 batches before I chunked the thing off the balcony at my apartment out of sheer disgust and frustration. It was the best/worst gift my gf ever gave me. Best of luck and I hope the Pale Ale turns out okay!!

Just make sure you brew it in the Rockies to get that refreshing, ice cold effect.

Don’t let these people discourage you man. If you truly have a passion for brewing your own beer, go for it.
It may be easier to buy beer, but there’s something to be said for enjoying your own creation.
I mean, sure, everyone loves to eat out at a restaurant, it’s certainly easier than making something from scratch, and then cleaning up the mess, but would you eat out EVERY night?
Besides, who knows what you’ll discover on your new Yeast and Barley infused journey into the unknown???

Good luck. I’ve never used the Mr Beer kit. Most of the advice I’ve heard suggested starting out with a larger setup, like the ones put out by Brewer’s Best. If you like the pale ale results, advance to a larger setup as soon as you can. You can hold on to the Mr Beer gear for small experimental batches. I figure that if you are going to go to the trouble of brewing, you may as well get a couple of cases out of it.

I have one, and have had great results. Granted in the scheme of home brewing, it is the simplest way to go. But brewing is brewing and brewing in Mr Ber still makes beer. It is a time consuming process, but just as making anything else by hand the reward is enjoying the finished product.

The best advice I have received and will pass on…. Don’t rush, extra time in the fermentor and the bottle will only help. After you let the bottles carbonate. Let them sit in the refrigerator a couple weeks. The beer will only get better. I know its hard to wait, but the results will be worth it.
